Local Investors Praise Government Initiative on New Tax Incentives for Oranjestad
The Oranjestad Investor Group (OIG) has expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Government of Aruba and the responsible Minister following the introduction of new tax incentives, effective January 1, 2026.
According to OIG, the government has taken an important and necessary step to improve conditions for private investment in Oranjestad. The group acknowledges the Minister’s commitment to developing policies that support economic activity and encourage investor participation in the city.
OIG represents local investors who are actively involved in the redevelopment and long-term growth of Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad. In 2025, OIG and the Government of Aruba signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation and accelerating investment and economic development in the city.
Encouraging Continued Investment
OIG has stated that the introduction of these incentives reflects clear leadership and policy direction. The group welcomes the government’s willingness to listen to the private sector and translate discussions into concrete measures.
According to OIG, the incentives help remove existing obstacles and create more realistic conditions for investors and developers. The group views this initiative as a signal that the government is serious about supporting urban redevelopment and private-sector involvement.
The incentives focus on stimulating new projects and revitalizing existing areas in Oranjestad, while also creating opportunities in San Nicolas. OIG emphasizes that these measures can help activate stalled projects, attract new capital, and contribute to employment and economic growth.
