Aruba Selects AAB to Advance Agri-Innovation Park Development
Aruba is taking a decisive step toward a more resilient and sustainable economy. Through the Landspakket program supported by TWO Nederland, the Dutch consultancy AAB International will develop the technical design and economic feasibility study for the Agri-Innovation Park Aruba (AIP). This milestone marks the start of a transformative investment opportunity in one of Aruba’s most promising sectors: sustainable agriculture.
Driving Innovation and Economic Diversification
The Agri-Innovation Park is a flagship initiative under the National Action Plan 2023–2025. It aims to accelerate local food production, reduce dependency on imports, and support the professionalization of greenhouse farming.
Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever, stated:
“By investing in modern greenhouse technologies and knowledge development, we are building resilient food production for the future.”
The AIP will serve as a platform for innovation and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, it aligns with Aruba’s broader vision for economic diversification and food security.
A Strong Investment Platform
The Agri-Innovation Park is not just a government project; it is also an investment platform that attracts strategic partners and investors. By introducing modern agricultural systems and scalable greenhouse solutions, AIP enables commercial greenhouse operations for both local and international Agripreneurs. In addition, it fosters technology partnerships in sustainable agriculture and provides training programs to build a skilled workforce. Moreover, it supports export-oriented growth through increased local production capacity. Overall, the initiative promotes new business models in high-tech agriculture, renewable energy integration, and supply chain innovation; all of which contribute to long-term economic growth.
Strategic Collaboration and International Expertise
The project develops in close partnership with Santa Rosa (DLVV), the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry (DEACI), Aruba Agriculture Development Company N.V., and TWO Nederland. AAB won the contract through a transparent international tender that attracted strong interest from local and global firms. Their experience with agricultural development projects in similar climates and their integrated technical approach make them the ideal partner to lead the design and feasibility phase. AAB will collaborate with the Ministry’s project team to produce the technical design, economic feasibility, and financial and operational models for the AIP. These deliverables, expected in early 2026, will lay the foundation for the construction phase later that year.
Investing in Aruba’s Future
The Agri-Innovation Park demonstrates how Landspakket projects supported by the Netherlands are moving from planning to action. Consequently, investors gain tangible opportunities to participate in Aruba’s sustainable economic transformation. With strong government backing, a clear strategic framework, and a trusted technical partner in AAB, the AIP represents a unique chance to invest in future-proof agriculture. It strengthens local food security while unlocking commercial growth.
