Public Tender for Wilhelminastraat Renovation

October 28, 2025

The Wilhelminastraat renovation in Oranjestad is moving forward with the launch of a public tender by the Government of Aruba. This marks an important step in transforming the capital into a vibrant and modern city center. Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever, together with Prime Minister, Mike Eman and Minister of Infrastructure, René Herdé, made the official announcement.

A Major Step in Oranjestad’s Urban Renewal

This project is part of Aruba’s long-term plan to revitalize downtown Oranjestad, create more business opportunities, and enhance the city’s overall appeal. The Government’s vision is to attract new investments in housing, dining, retail, and office spaces. Architectural firms are invited to submit creative proposals that highlight the unique character of Wilhelminastraat. A mixed committee from both government and private sectors will review the designs and select the most comprehensive and innovative plan. The winning firm will then prepare the final architectural design, technical documentation, and construction specifications.

Project Area and Scope

The Wilhelminastraat renovation in Oranjestad covers the stretch from Wilhelminastraat 49/62 to the Kazernestraat intersection, excluding Plaza Daniel Leo. It also includes Klipstraat/Oranjestraat, Rifstraat, and Schoolstraat. The design will serve as a foundation for the city’s ongoing urban enhancement plan, making Oranjestad more accessible, beautiful, and dynamic for residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs.

“We remain committed to a modern, vibrant, and sustainable Oranjestad. This public tender represents a concrete step forward in the urban renewal process to which we have dedicated ourselves,” said Minister Wever.
